Where does Kate Chaney really stand on live sheep exports?

That's the question we all want to know the answer to.

First, Kate wanted to ban live sheep exports.

Saying in Parliament on 24 June 2024:

"It is an ALP platform issue and I'm not going to argue against this position. I understand the animal rights concerns and I'm equally concerned by the stories of animal suffering. I've seen the figures that show the live sheep export market has been declining and sheepmeat exports have been increasing, so I will be supporting this bill before the House which will end live sheep exports by sea by 1 May 2028."

But after YOU and Keep the Sheep emailed her, rang her office and wrote letters, the very next day she backflipped and voted against the ban.

On 26 June 2024 she said:

"A few days ago, I spoke in Parliament about the ban on live sheep export. Based on the evidence I've seen in the last year, I laid out the arguments for and against and said, on balance, I would support the ban. Since then, I've changed my mind. In the last few days, I've heard so many stories from constituents and other Western Australians about the very real impacts a ban would have on them, on their livelihoods, their mental health, their families, and their communities."

What's not clear is where Kate Chaney stands now.

Keep the Sheep wrote to Kate Chaney in November 2024 (and followed up in January of this year) asking her if she would vote to repeal the ban in Parliament after the election. And we've got...Crickets...

So we're calling on you, to once again inundate her office with emails, phone calls, and letters to get an answer.

Kate can't kick the can down the road any longer.
