Keep the Sheep Campaign ignored by PM in West
This morning, Keep the Sheep campaigners attended Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s event in Alkimos, drawing attention to the growing opposition to the Government's live sheep export ban and calling for a reversal of the unpopular policy at the next sitting week.
Campaign spokesman and WA trucking business owner Ben Sutherland said, “We warned Albo to keep an eye on his rear vision mirrors as we’d be there. Today we asked him directly about the sheep trade and received crickets.”
“We want him to know that Keep the Sheep is primed and ready for the election campaign.”
With over 106,000 signatories to the petition and thousands of volunteers on standby, the ‘Farmy Army’ won’t let Albo visit WA without seeing our supporters and hearing the message and clear.
Mr Sutherland said the Government still had an opportunity to reverse the ban if there was another sitting week before the election.
“With possibly just one more parliamentary sitting period before the election, the PM faces a choice: reverse this devastating ban, or be prepared to see us and hear us every time he sets foot in WA between now and election day,” he said.
The effect of the Albanese Labor Government’s actions is already being felt as sheep farmers exit the industry pushing sheep numbers to disastrous lows.
The Keep the Sheep campaign has proven it can activate thousands of people though its truck rally through the CBD and its rally in Muresk.
