Metro Perth: Join with us to ‘Bin the Ban’

The Keep the Sheep campaign has called on people in metropolitan Perth to get behind their campaign to save WA’s live sheep trade by putting a ‘bin the ban’ sticker on their wheely bin to show support for WA’s rural communities and help scrap the Government’s live export ban.

WA truckie and small business owner, Ben Sutherland said that the ban was already hurting regional areas, especially when coupled with the cost of living crisis.

“People are already doing it tough. What Albo’s ban means is a reduction in sheep numbers, which ultimately means a reduction in spending. It’s less money in donations for our sporting clubs, community events or at our regional small businesses.”

“We’re calling on people in Perth to get behind the campaign and send a message to Labor MPs by grabbing a sticker and showing they won’t put up with the Albanese Government’s attack on WA’s live sheep trade.”

Mr Sutherland said it was more than just farmers and truckies being affected by the ban; it was hurting many people in small communities, with businesses like stock agents, pubs and bakeries feeling the pinch.

“97% of sheep exports depart from Western Australia, and it will be our state that will be hardest hit by the ban. It’s another example of Western Australia being the casualty of Government policy made in Canberra without any regard to the impacts over here.”

“We’re calling on everyone to get behind us and help us ‘bin the ban’!”
